TODAY, I HAVE AN INCREDIBLE TEAM BY MY SIDE AND A LOYAL CLIENT BASE, WITH CUSTOMERS TRAVELLING HUNDREDS OF MILES TO EXPERIENCE WHAT WE DO. BUT IT HASN’T ALWAYS BEEN THIS WAY.
The wedding industry is often seen as “so good to work in…” and while it can be incredibly rewarding, it also demands that we’re always on our A-game. We chase enquiries, get ghosted, work until the early hours, and pretty much live and breathe it 24/7 during the busy months. We end up so focused on working in our business that there’s no time to work on it or explore what else is possible.
For me, that meant struggling to juggle two young children, a business, and life in general. It left me questioning, “Is this worth it? Is this really it?” I felt drained, constantly pulled in different directions, with little control and a constant fear that if I didn’t do X, Y, or Z, someone else would get ahead. I felt anxious, stuck in a cycle of comparison, frustrated that I couldn’t get seen fully, and overwhelmed by the endless fire-fighting and responsibilities. I had no time to enjoy what I was doing and felt insignificant and out of control.
Then I realised something crucial, I had built this business, and I could change it. I had lost sight of who I was and why I started. I was stuck in the business, and I decided to evolve, to refocus, and to start moving forward again. I stopped looking outwards, stopped comparing, and refocused on what truly mattered.
I went back to my why: to build connections and deep, meaningful relationships with the people who matter most, my team, my couples, my family, and my children. I shifted to become the business owner I am today.
We grew exponentially, with 30% growth year on year, but we never lost sight of our why. Every day, we strive to be the best we can be by offering the best for our customers. That’s what makes us one of the best in the business. It’s not about shouting the loudest or being seen all the time, it’s about doing something worth noticing.
For a while now, I have had this feeling that there is more. I have a drive and a passion to help those around me realise their more. I want to be surrounded by people who think like me, have the same drive, and inspire me. In turn, I want to enable and create better connections, better relationships, and, fundamentally, industry-leading businesses by connecting remarkable, passionate people.
